While Teece and I were in Castle Hill snowboarding we snapped some moving footage to go with the still shots.
This footage was from our day at Broken River. Teece ripping it up, a nice big air, some sledding which results in sliding down the side of the ridge, and a few photos to end an awesome trip.
September was a great month. Lots of fun things to keep me busy. I spent time painting, cleaning and modding the BBQ ready for another summer. Painted up the bat phone. Did a bit of driving and caught some magic shots of a Kaikoura sunrise.
It was school holidays but I would have to say you wouldn’t have known. We pretty much had the fields to ourself and we had fresh snow and blue sky days everyday we went up.
Here is the latest video from August 2008 Snowboarding at Rainbow
What a great day, sun, snow and great mates. We had a super day at Rainbow. Six of us piled in to the van and away we went. The video covers the whole day, but don’t worry, I included the good bits like the attempted back flip, many jumps, drops, and probably the best cart wheel of the day
They claimed to have 250cm ~ 400cm of snow on the day which is possibly the most snow I have ever known at our small local field. We enjoyed the trails in the morning while the snow softened up a bit, and then we hit West Bowl and walked up SixOne to an awesome wind lip. This kept us busy for a while before we needed to carry on carving up the white canvas.
I’m sure someone is there, I see you on my stats Anyway, I have been underground, working on a Top Secret Project, so secret, even the government doesn’t know about it!
But spring is here and I’m feeling a little more motivated to work on this site again. I have plenty of photos to catch up on so will work on posting them up.
Here is a teaser of last week. I took a break in Nelson and 6 of us piled in to a van and went snowboarding at Rainbow.
Kees and I decided to do an overnighter up the lake on a random inspiration of fun.
We packed our fishing rods just as an extra reason to walk for 3 hours in the beautiful native bush.
Once we walked to the head of the lake we had something to eat and then went to hide from the sand flies and find the fish that were hiding from us Not much luck with the fish, but the weather was awesome and we had a great night out under a big old native tree.
=-)
Was thinking of Joel this morning and his massive road trip on the other side of the world. I checked his domain IThoughtYouHadTheMap.com for updates and had a pleasant surprise to see a blog post.
Their plans have been delayed by at least 2 weeks due to a shipping hiccup but at least they seem to be alive and well ready to take on the adventures by foot until the vehicle arrives.
Back in June 2007 we had an awesome dump of snow one weekend. We decided to mission up to Lake Rotoiti to check it out. We packed old “Rock Hopper” snowboards and a tow rope then hit the road.
There was a fantastic amount on snow at the lake car park but unfortunately it filled up pretty quick with city folk wanting to see the snow. We then missioned out of town a little to find a nice long straight road with plenty of snow on the verge.
After our muscles were burning with satisfaction we decided it was time to leave the magic wonderland and head home.
Some more photos from Jan. Mainly our trip along the Buller River. R, Teece and I had a great time, the plan was to do lots of paddling but the water flow was low. We then managed to put a hole in the raft too. We had a great time though and made it to Westport and did a spot of caving the next day. We have been talking about the cave from the first time we found it so now was a great time.
On the way home we stopped in at Quinney’s Bush and enjoyed the awesome water slide!
=-)
I have seen a lot of rainbows recently, I just need to find the gold now Spring is here, lots of crazy weather to keep us guessing.
Look at that, I’m almost there with my photos. I’m feeling more organised already.
Long weekend coming and I have a new toy, my flowboard which I am loving! Friday night session tomorrow, look out hills of Nelson!
Also sounds like there will be adventure so more photo op’s!
