Wonderful Weekend

Boys on a MissionI had an AWESOME weekend last weekend, Teece, Kev, ‘Baby G’ AKA ‘Big R’ AKA ‘R’ AKA Ryan and I missioned to the Nelson Lakes for a trip up Mt Angelus. At a last minute “good idea” we left Friday night, arrived at the car park at midnight. Tramped up Pinch Gut track to the drafty shelter and arrived around 1:30am and slept. Then around 8:30 am we carried on to Mt Angelus. It took us about 5 hours along the ridge of the snow capped mountains. There was low cloud for the entire walk so not much in the way of views.

The highlight of the days tramp would have to be the slide on our bums down the mountain. It turned 30mins into 30 seconds of high speed fun! We had a great relaxing afternoon and over the evening 6 other people turned up.

Early the next morning we packed our packs and I donned my soaking wet boots to tramp up the slope we had slid down to slide down the other side =-) We slid down into Spare grass valley and walked back out to the car park. On the way Big R steeped into a waist deep muddy bog in the middle of the track. Very funny for everyone but Ryan I think ;-) Some light rain and low cloud but great views of the mountains and native forest.

To top it all off Kev had another last minute “good idea” while we were driving down the access road. All of us stripped down to boxers and ran down the jetty and bombed into the freezing lake. That was a fast and refreshing swim to top off a great weekend.

Good Times!
=-)
